The Florida Institute for Child Welfare is proud to announce the annual Child Welfare Professional of the Year Awards for 2025. These awards recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals within Florida’s child welfare workforce and researchers who study the field.
We are now accepting nominations for the 2025 awards from colleagues, supervisors, partner providers, and family members for professionals who excel in partnering with and supporting parents and caregivers within the child welfare system. Nominees can work for the DCF, community-based care lead agencies, contracted providers, universities, or be individuals with lived experience/expertise.
There are four award categories:
Frontline Workers (e.g., case managers, protective investigators, guardian ad litem, therapeutic providers)
Lived Experience
Research
Leadership/Supervision
If you know someone deserving of recognition for their dedication and commitment to children and families in Florida, please submit your nomination by February 21, 2025.
This year, the nomination process has changed. We now require:
A nomination letter, and
Two recommendation letters from colleagues or parents/caregivers.
Winners will be announced by March 25, 2025, and awards will be presented at the Institute’s symposium, “Together for Families: Domestic Violence Support in Child Welfare,” on May 7, 2025. All awardees will receive a travel scholarship to attend the two-day symposium in Tallahassee on May 6 and 7, 2025.

Nominators must submit:
A nomination letter detailing the nominee’s exceptional actions and achievements, including examples of how they support parents and caregivers in achieving their goals.
Two letters of support from colleagues or parents/caregivers.

Eligibility
Nominees must be current employees of the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), a community-based care lead agency, or a contracted provider in good standing, or be individuals with lived experience/expertise. Previous winners of the CWP award are not eligible for nomination.
